Who would benefit from live in care?
Many families assume that care homes are the only option when a loved one starts needing an increasing level of support. But live-in care is rapidly becoming the preferred choice for those who are reluctant to leave the comfort and familiarity of home, and it avoids the disruption that comes with moving into a care home.
It also allows individuals to live by a schedule that suits them rather than following a timetable of meals and activities set in a care home.
This is when a fully-trained carer lives with you in your home – with their own room where they stay overnight - so that support is always on hand. They combine clinical knowledge with carrying out every day home tasks.
You are usually assigned two carers who take turns to live in their own room in your home on a two-week rotation. They carry out a variety of duties, such as providing thorough medical and personal care, managing medications, and providing valued companionship.

Live-in care can be particularly cost effective for couples who are both living at home as there is only a small fee to cover care for a second person. It is also a popular choice with those requiring 24-hour care.
What services are included with live-in care?
Our professional carers are trained in medications management and will monitor and identify any changes in a person’s health so it can be quickly investigated and avoid hospital admissions.
They are also on hand to help with washing and dressing, preparing all meals, and keeping the home tidy. They will ensure easy access around the house, and even plan activities such as local walks, visits to community groups, socialising with friends.
Is live in care right for me?
Whether someone requires permanent 24-hour assistance or short-term respite, Safehands carers are expertly trained to manage a range of medical conditions.
We provide respite care to give a family carer a much-needed rest, short-term care following an illness, and end of life palliative care.
